Slurping Turtle

In Japan, slurping while eating sobas and ramens is not only encouraged, it is de rigueur. Add to this idea the symbol of longevity, exemplified by the turtle in Asian culture, and you end up with an interesting conversation expressing what Slurping Turtle is all about.

If the restaurant logo takes the form of a cute cartoon-ish figure, then the interior design is all urban chic, combining an industrial concrete shell with soothing white corian counters and light oak millwork. The dining room centers around a long, narrow communal core flanked by an open kitchen and a mezzanine. Private “cube” seating along the entire front window was created to produce a street side visual reminiscent of the “Hollywood square” TV set.
